Overview
The Rakaposhi & Diran Base Camp Trek is an extraordinary dual-base camp journey in the Nagar Valley of the Karakoram. Beginning in the fruit orchards of Minapin village, the trail ascends through Hapakun pastures to Taghafari (Rakaposhi Base Camp, 3,800m), directly beneath Rakaposhi's massive 5,800m north ice face (7,788m). The trek then traverses the crevassed Minapin and Katchelly Glaciers to reach Diran Base Camp (3,900m), sitting at the base of the striking pyramid peak of Diran (7,266m) and the turquoise Katchelly Lake.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Transfer to Minapin village (2,000m). Meet local guides and gear check.
4–5 hrs trek through pine groves and shepherd settlements (2,800m).
3–4 hrs trek along moraine ridge to Taghafari (3,800m) directly facing Rakaposhi.
Hike along the moraine ridge for sunrise views over Rakaposhi's north face.
4–5 hrs glacier trek to Diran Base Camp (3,900m) near Katchelly Lake.
Explore Katchelly Lake and optional hike toward Diran Advance Base Camp.
Trek back across Katchelly Glacier to Hapakun pastures.
3 hrs descent to Minapin, drive to Karimabad for celebratory dinner.
