The K2 Base Camp Trek is widely considered the greatest trek on earth. K2 (8,611m) is the second highest mountain in the world. The approach trek takes you through the Baltoro Glacier — one of the world's longest glaciers outside the polar regions — to Concordia, the throne room of the mountain gods, where K2, Broad Peak, and four of the eight-thousanders are visible simultaneously.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

  1. Briefing. Equipment check.

  2. Drive + jeep, 3–4 hrs. Last village before the Karakoram wilderness.

  3. 5–6 hrs. Cross the Braldu River suspension bridge.

  4. 5–6 hrs. Dramatic views of Paiyu Peak.

  5. Acclimatization. Day hike to Paiyu La viewpoint.

  6. 5–6 hrs. Enter the Baltoro Glacier.

  7. 4–5 hrs. Urdukas meadow — last green camp.

  8. 5–6 hrs on the glacier moraine.

  9. 5–6 hrs. Arrive at 4,600m. K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum IV visible.

  10. Acclimatization walks.

  11. 4 hrs, 5,150m. Return to Concordia.

  12. Optional add-on day.

  13. Concordia → Gore I → Urdukas → Liligo → Paiyu → Jhola → Askole.

  14. Jeep drive. Celebration dinner.

  15. Optional hot baths, massage, city walk.

  16. Trek ends.
