Overview

Mahodand Lake is one of Pakistan's most breathtakingly beautiful alpine lakes, situated at 2,882 metres in the upper reaches of the Ushu Valley, about 40 km from Kalam in Swat District. The name 'Mahodand' means 'Lake of Fish' in the local Pashto dialect, and the crystal-clear waters are renowned for brown trout fishing. Framed by snow-dusted peaks, dense pine and juniper forests, and lush alpine meadows, this lake feels like a landscape from a fairy tale.
